What we do

Patio laying. That is the core of it. We have been working with stone, tile, and paving long enough to know what holds up in the British climate and what does not. Based in Thaxted, Essex, we cover residential gardens across the area and take each job at its own pace.

We work with a wide range of materials, and we are honest with customers about what suits their ground conditions and budget.

Getting the base right

Most problems with patios come from the ground up. A patio that sinks or shifts after two winters usually points to poor sub-base preparation, inadequate compaction depth, or insufficient fall gradient for surface water runoff. We do not cut corners at that stage. The finish is only as good as what is underneath it.

Porcelain in particular needs a solid, level mortar bed. It is less forgiving than sandstone, it looks brilliant when it is done right.

Beyond the patio

A lot of customers come to us for a patio and then ask about the rest of the garden while we are on site. We can handle more than the paving itself.

• Artificial grass, properly fitted with a compacted sub-base

Having one crew manage the groundwork, paving, and fencing saves time and keeps the site tidy. It is a practical arrangement that most customers find straightforward.
