Materials we work with

People often ask me whether to go with Yorkstone or Indian sandstone, and the honest answer is it depends on the garden, the drainage, and how much direct traffic the surface will take. Both have their place, I’ve used each of them on jobs across Essex and both reward a properly prepared sub-base.

We also source quality aggregates for our bedding and jointing work. Liffey gravel, where the spec calls for it, gives a clean, stable result that holds well in our local ground conditions.

How we work

Every job starts with a proper site visit. Sub-base depth, falls for drainage, kerb lines, the condition of any existing walling, we take all of that in before a single slab is lifted. The laying mortar mix ratio and compaction method are matched to the material being installed. That detail is what separates a patio that looks right after five years from one that shifts after the first winter.

We are straightforward with quotes and realistic about timescales. No pressure, no padding.
