Takeley Patios
Takeley Patios
Out here in Essex, the ground does not forgive poor drainage
Rain finds every weakness. I learned that the hard way years ago, watching a badly laid patio in Dublin heave and sink after one wet winter. Falls set correctly from the start, that is not optional. It is the whole job.
We are based in Takeley, Essex, and we lay patios that stay put. Proper sub-base, proper falls, proper finish.
What we work with
Every garden is different, so we work across the full range of surfacing options:
- Porcelain tiles, large format or standard
- Indian sandstone, the real stuff
- Concrete flagstones
- Block paving
- Natural limestone
- Granite setts
- Reconstituted stone flags
- Gravel and bound aggregate surfaces
Each material has its quirks. Porcelain wants a full bed. Sandstone needs sealing if you want it looking right in five years. We talk customers through the options properly before anything goes down.
Beyond the patio itself
Most gardens need more than just a paved area. We also handle:
- Garden paths and connecting hard landscaping
- Timber fencing installations
- Garden walling, brick and block
- Turfed lawns, roll-on
- Artificial grass installations
It is fairly unglamorous work most days. But it matters.
I have seen too many gardens where the patio looks fine on day one and is rocking by year two. (That usually comes down to a skipped compaction stage, not the material itself.) We do not skip stages.
Back in Dublin, I used to do a lot of work around the Ballyboden St Enda’s GAA club area. Hard-wearing ground, heavy footfall, no tolerance for corners being cut. That mindset came with me to Essex. However the weather behaves on the day, the groundwork is what counts.
