A decent summer deserves a decent garden
Good weather never lasts. That’s the truth of it. When the sun does show up in Warwickshire, you want to be out in your garden on something that actually looks right, not cracked concrete or a scrubby patch of lawn that’s seen better days.
We’ve been laying patios across Nuneaton for years. We know the housing stock here. The sandstone cottages, the red brick terraces, the 1990s Barratt-style estates where every back garden is a similar size and a well-laid patio can completely change how the space feels and functions.
What we work with
We use materials that suit the job and the garden, not just whatever’s easiest to source.
- Porcelain tiles, rectified and calibrated for a clean finish
- Indian sandstone in a range of colours and textures
- Kandla grey sandstone calibrated 22mm, which we use regularly on jobs where the customer wants something that weathers well without looking rough after a couple of winters
- Concrete flagstones where budget and practicality call for it
- New walling, timber fencing, artificial grass and turfed lawns
How a typical installation week goes
Most patio jobs follow a straightforward sequence. Here’s how we generally run it.
- Excavation, clearing the existing surface and digging to the right depth
- Sub-base, compacted MOT Type 1 to give everything a solid foundation
- Bedding layer, sharp sand or a cement mix depending on the material going down
- Laying the slabs or tiles, keeping levels tight and falls correct for drainage
- Jointing, whether that’s brush-in grout or a flowable compound (the jointing stage is where a lot of cheaper jobs fall apart, honestly)
- Cleaning down and final inspection before we hand it over
