What we do

Out here in Halstead, Essex, we lay patios for a living, and we take that seriously. It is not complicated work to describe, but it is very easy to get wrong. The difference is nearly always in what you cannot see once the job is done.

Base preparation is where most of it lives. We work in compacted layers, sub-base first, then the bedding course, each one checked before anything goes on top. Skip that and your paving moves, your joints crack, and your drainage fails within a season. We do not skip it.

Materials we work with

We are comfortable across the full range of patio surfaces:

• Porcelain tiles, including large-format slabs
• Indian sandstone and other natural stone
• Concrete flagstones
• Block paving
• Garden paths and paved areas

Every material has its own quirks (porcelain in particular needs the right adhesive mortar, not just a sand and cement mix). We have laid enough of it to know what suits which garden and which ground condition.

Beyond the patio

Paving is our core, but we also handle other garden work when customers need it.

• Timber fencing, erected properly with concreted posts
• Garden walling, brick and block
• Roll-on turf lawns
• Artificial grass installations

Most of our materials come through local suppliers. We collect from the Braintree Council depot yard when we need to, and we know our way around the local merchants well enough to source decent stone without the inflated markups.

We cover Halstead and the surrounding area. CO9 postcodes are our home ground. We do turn down work that is too far out, because we think showing up on time matters.
