Patios Oldtown
The ground stays wet longer than people think
Irish rainfall is relentless. A patio laid without proper falls and drainage will be holding puddles before the first winter is out. That is the first thing I look at on any job, before a single slab goes down.
We have been laying patios and doing garden groundwork around Oldtown long enough to know what works and what does not. The soil here does not forgive shortcuts.
What we work with
Every garden is different. The surfaces we install include:
- Indian sandstone patios
- Porcelain paving
- Limestone patio installations
- Granite slabbing
- Standard garden paving
Sandstone and limestone both move if the bedding is rushed. We take the time. Porcelain is unforgiving on uneven sub-bases (and plenty of lads skip that prep, which shows up fast). Granite slabbing is the hardest wearing of the lot.
Beyond the patio itself
It is rarely just slabs. Most jobs we do run wider than that.
- New lawns and turfing
- Wooden fencing and boundary work
- Bricklaying and raised features
- Pathways and garden paving
We did a full rear garden rework near Naomh BarrĂ³g GAA club not long back. Complete dig-out, new drainage run, porcelain terrace, lawn, and timber fencing along the boundary. Straightforward job done right.
Renovations too
Older patios crack and shift. Levels go wrong. Sometimes a repair is enough. Sometimes a full lift and relay is the only honest answer. We will tell you which.
It is usually the drainage that was wrong from the start.
